Project Director

The Baton Rouge Alliance for Students Action
works in partnership with parents, community, civic leaders and policymakers to achieve the shared goal of an excellent education for every Baton Rouge student. We are dedicated to elevating the voice of students and families in our community. The Alliance’s work focuses on the areas of:  Empowering Families, Elevating Community and Engaging Leaders.
The Alliance’s Project Directors are charged with turning strategy into action by overseeing a network of contractors supporting the execution of  signature organizational programs, and providing strategic counsel for initiatives to advance the organization’s policy agenda.

OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization’s goals and theory of action
  • Develop, refine, and execute project plans for signature organizational programs as assigned, working cross-team to support overall organizational success
  • Manage a portfolio of contractors providing services to the organization, including:
    • Collaborate with senior team to determine and define project scopes and objectives
    • Estimate resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
    • Prepare budget based on scope of work, resource requirements, and senior team input
    • Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans
    • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, progress, and success
    • Assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables and timelines
    • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate across departments to develop and deliver programming to enhance participant experience.
  • Oversee and facilitate all aspects of program planning from site selection, vendor negotiation, event registration, onsite staffing, pre-event coordination/rehearsal, and post-event reporting.
  • Attends external meetings as needed and represents the organization professionally and appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum: Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred); or comparable professional experience 
  • 5+ years of project management, program management or related experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Comfortable holding multiple unrelated projects at once and context-switching cleanly between them.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ensuring access to high-quality school options for every student in Baton Rouge
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and quickly
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A “bias toward action” 
  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, Gmail)
  • A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time role offering compensation that is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $105,000. The Alliance offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance, a 401K and unlimited PTO.
