Kiara Whitfield

Kiara Muse Whitfield is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, healthcare professional, entrepreneur, and community advocate who is deeply committed to making a meaningful impact in her hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Kiara has always believed that strong communities are built through service, education, opportunity, and a willingness to invest in the next generation.

With more than a decade of experience as a medical provider, Kiara’s career began in nursing, where she spent several years working in emergency medicine, pediatrics, and NICU before advancing her education and becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her professional journey has allowed her to serve patients across a variety of healthcare settings while developing a passion for patient education, wellness, and helping others feel confident and empowered.

Kiara is also the co-owner of Muse Medical Aesthetics & Laser in Baton Rouge, a medical aesthetics practice she founded alongside her twin sister, Kristi Muse. Together, they have built Muse around a philosophy of education, inclusivity, safety, and thoughtful patient care. As both a provider and business owner, Kiara understands the importance of leadership, mentorship, financial literacy, and creating pathways for others to succeed.

Beyond her professional work, service is an important part of Kiara’s life. She has been involved with several community and philanthropic organizations, including Jack and Jill of America and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and has supported initiatives benefiting healthcare, families, and youth throughout the Baton Rouge community. She believes that meaningful change happens when people are willing to contribute not only their resources, but also their time, talents, voices, and lived experiences.

As a wife and mother, Kiara’s passion for education is also deeply personal. She recognizes that the quality of a child’s education can shape opportunities for generations, and she believes every child deserves access to an environment where they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Being selected for the CHANGEMAKERS program represents an opportunity for Kiara to deepen her understanding of the challenges and opportunities within Baton Rouge’s education system, learn alongside other community leaders, and become a more informed and effective advocate for students and families.

Kiara approaches this experience with a desire to listen, learn, collaborate, and ultimately help create a stronger Baton Rouge—one where education serves as a foundation for opportunity and where every child has the chance to thrive.
