LaKeitha Poole

Dr. LaKeitha Poole is a counselor, educator, leadership strategist, and advocate dedicated to helping individuals and organizations reach their highest potential. She currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Psychology & Counseling at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she leads one of the nation’s premier collegiate sport psychology and mental health programs, supporting the holistic development and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
A New Orleans native, Dr. Poole earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University, her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from LSU, and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University. Before joining LSU Athletics, she served in LSU’s Office of Multicultural Affairs, where she created counseling and advising services that supported the academic, personal, and leadership development of underrepresented students. That experience reinforced her belief that education extends far beyond the classroom and thrives when students feel supported, connected, and empowered.
Outside of LSU, Dr. Poole is the Founder and CEO of Small Talk Counseling & Consulting, a global private practice focused on expanding access to mental health services, leadership development, and performance psychology education. Through consulting, speaking, and professional training, she partners with schools, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to build healthier individuals and stronger organizations.
Throughout her career, Dr. Poole has remained passionate about the intersection of education, mental wellness, and leadership. Whether mentoring future counselors, developing educational programming, or helping high performers navigate life’s challenges, she believes that investing in people creates lasting change for families, organizations, and communities.
Dr. Poole was recognized as a 2025 Baton Rouge Business Report Forty Under 40 Awardee. She serves on the National Football League’s Comprehensive Mental Health & Wellness Committee. She has also consulted with championship organizations at the collegiate and professional levels, including Brown University and the Golden State Warriors, experiences that continue to shape her approach to resilience, teamwork, and leadership.
